Is there a fire near me?

This page looks up the fires NASA's satellites saw in the last 24 hours around where you are, anywhere in Pakistan and India, and shows the nearest ones on a map. It uses your approximate location from your internet connection. Nothing is stored.

How this works

Each fire is one detection by NASA's VIIRS or MODIS instruments, about 375 m across, from the FIRMS feed. The feed is checked every 15 minutes.

Satellites pass over a few times a day, mostly around 1:30 at night and 1:30 in the afternoon, so a fire lit after the last pass will not show yet. Fires under cloud or thick smoke, and very small fires, can be missed.

Smoke travels: a city can be hazy from fires 100 km or more away when the wind blows from them. The city pages show which way the wind is blowing.

See every fire on the live map (the "Fires near me" button there does the same lookup), the city air pages and the daily fire pages.

Fires up to 30 October, 03:48 PKT. This page updates every 15 minutes.
